KLRC2 (D94/NKG2C), an activating NK cell receptor of the C-type lectin superfamily that binds to HLA-E, noncovalently associates with DAP12.
Activation of CD94/NKG2C/DAP12 complexes caused tyrosine phosphorylation of numerous cellular proteins, including DAP12 and Syk
CD94/NKG2C can fully activate the cell to
divide and produce cytokines, whereas NKG2D costimulates in a manner
similar to CD28 (Groh et al. 2001; Roberts et al. 2001)
The ligand of CD94/NKG2A and CD94/NKG2C receptors is the nonclassic
MHC class I molecule HLA-E (Braud et al. 1998; Llano et al. 1998)
